Me, being a paranoid control freak, knew I needed to take action to protect my millions of dollars.

A to Z Challenge

I have decided on a topic for my A to Z challenge, nothing like waiting until the last minute this thing starts tomorrow!!

I plan to do a science experiment with my boys each day. I will explain each experiment, give you a list of supplies, have pictures and give you some helpful tips to accomplish each one with your kiddos.

This will be a challenge, both the doing and the writing. My boys can be all in to something one second and literally the next second on the floor bored out of their minds.

So, together we will attempt to accomplish this challenge.

If you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

In the mean time, I am off to attempt experiment numero uno letter A, Acid. We will attempt to light an LED bulb using acid from a lemon.

Great Knee support with a cool Look!!

I ordered the knee support for my husband. He has had problems with his knees for as long as I have known him.

Our boys always ask him to play basketball and play soccer. Unfortunately, he usually has to say no due to the discomfort. With this knee sleeve, he has been able to play with them and be much more active.  It provides great compression and it looks pretty cool too!

The RIM sports knee sleeve has out performed other knee supports he has tried. Most are either big and awkward or don't provide the support that he needs.

How I transformed a DIY table into a DIY craft table

When I started transforming our front room into an office I realized that there was no room for the art table that I had built for my boys. You see, I had just moved it from their room a few months ago. I had no plans of moving it back. I really (I mean REALLY) like the table.  I had to come up with a plan. 

I decided I could probably mount it to the wall. Hopefully.  Without much hesitation, or even much thought, certainly no conversation was had with my hubby, I sawed the legs off. I tend to act on ideas with much impulse and little to no plan. I can't deal with sitting back and analyzing things to death. I'm a doer, damn it!

How We are SUCCESSFULLY Tackling Chores!!

Our boys are 8 and 5. We don't do the allowance thing. Instead we went to instill in them early that they are rewarded for doing what they should do already.

Let me try to clarify this concept a bit.  Instead of expecting to be rewarded with a new toy or money each week, they know we expect them to do well in school and help around the house and be kind, (basically be a good all around person).

Don't get me wrong, they get rewarded, sort of. We tell them they earn tablet time or video game time by doing chores. They earn picking the Friday night family movie or get to cook dinner (yes, my kids get AMPED over cooking!!

By the same token they can also lose those treasured treats. 

Here is a picture of the incentive chart we have been using for a few months. Let me tell you, this sucker WORKS! They do not want to have their clip moved. If by chance that clip does move, its the first thing they check on the next day!!

Careful Gardener

It seems that every year we go through several splitters!!


I recently got a new one from the Careful Gardener. It is heavy and the nozzles are tight. I am hopeful that will mean it seals well. The main connector has a rubber fitting on the exterior so it makes it really easy to tighten.

Each of the connections seal nicely and so far no leaks. I am very happy with this hose splitter. I think I will be ordering a second for the front yard!

Chalk without Dust!

 

We recently put a chalkboard up in our office. I had been using regular chalk. I feel like a simpleton now that I know the options available.

 

Liquid markers are bright and clean! I love these things!!



Chalk stays put!

You can see the "regular" chalk on the rest of the board. In comparison, the liquid chalk is brighter. The kids like that their hands stay clean. I like that the chalk dust isn't everywhere.

Overall, we REALLY like this liquid chalk. Oh, I forgot to mention, they came with 8 super cute labels! I've been labeling everything lately, so they were right on time!!

We've been had by a Leprechaun, AGAIN!!!

Each year my boys and I attempt to catch a leprechaun.

We have yet to catch that tricky bugger!

We've been saving boxes and discussing our contraption for weeks!

We decided to create a trap that would lore him up two flights of golden ladders. At the top he would find a gold coin. What Leprechaun could resist? We had cut out the floor so that he would fall into the trap. We covered the hole out of a rug that we fashioned out of ribbons. The coin was placed on top of the "rug".

We also placed a very welcoming sign... I mean REALLY what had we missed?

Bags be GONE!

Here we go with more anti-aging, right? Well, the fact is that it is something that I never REALLY expected.....I mean, I expected to get old, REALLY old. I just didn't plan for looking any older than.....say...25.

Well, lets just say its been a little while since I was carded... I'll give you a moment to compose yourself.

SO, with that being said, I have been searching for products that won't hurt my bank account but that will actually work!

I found Mediderm on Amazon. It has great reviews and isn't crazy expensive.

I received it yesterday so I don't have a lot to share about the products effectiveness. I will say, it is very rich and creamy. It makes my skin feel tingly..which makes me think that something is taking place.

I am excited to see some results. The package says to use for 6 - 8 weeks. I will update in a couple of months and let you know!

Once upon a time, I was intimidated by all things power tool related. Sure I could use a drill as a  screwdriver but that was the extent of my abilities. Until one magical day when I found Ana White's site. Can you hear the angels singing?  This was the site that I learned that I CAN build.

Getting Older WITH a fight!

So as I get older I am less than thrilled with what I see in the mirror! I have been reading a lot about different treatments. Natural DIY masks, UV light therapy and creams.

Our Stubborn Pyrenees has been forced to conform!

We have had trouble with our Pyrenees chasing our ducks and chickens. Surprised, right? I mean how could we expect him to resist a self propelled unpredictable toy that is guaranteed to play when charged at? I'm sure that's how he sees them.

We had to find a solution, I was tired of yelling at him, I'm sure my neighbors were too. Not that yelling was even working! I had searched the internet for options. I wasn't pinning the birds in, not putting the dog on a leash and I didn't want a shock collar.

I was excited when I found the Esky rechargeable dog collar. We have the option to beep it, vibrate it or shock him. We can control the intensity too! The collar has been very effective! I have only had to beep him a couple of times and now he stays away from our birds! Its incredible!

I love that it is rechargeable, both the controller and the collar. I like that the collars are colored and not just black, blah...

Working Class Brands has created an outstanding Lab Coat for the kiddos!

My boys are 8 and 5, they love doing experiments. If that involves explosions, even better! Well, lately things have gotten a bit stale. They haven't been quite as excited. That is probably my fault, I haven't been spending the necessary amount of time on Pintrest to find new and inventive things to create.

Well, with that said, I found the most incredible lab coat for them. When I saw it I knew that they would be just as jazzed. With amazon prime we received the coat in 2 days. My boys have wanted to be scientist and doctors since it arrived.

It is amazing! They really produced a great product! It fits perfectly and it is so well made, I am truly impressed with the quality of the material. Working Class Brands are serious about providing kids with a realistic product. I swear my kids transform into the real scientists in their minds when they put on this coat
