Closet Organizing - Quick and Easy!

Anyone with kids knows how quickly they out grow their clothes. It seems like I spend WAY too much time sorting through my boys' closets trying to figure out a way to separate what fits now what will fit soon and what needs to be donated.

These simple and inexpensive dividers are a great solution!

I have separated their clothes into three simple categories.

  • FITS NOW - pretty obvious - but it helps with putting things away and getting things out to wear.
  • NOT YET - keeps me aware of what is available to check periodically to see if it fits.
  • DONATED - great to have this area when I am putting the clothes away - I hang it in that section and when it becomes too much, just pull them down and send them on their way.
These dividers come in packs of 20 for under $8 on Amazon.

They are well made and easily slip onto closet poles. Labeling them is simple. This is by far the easiest and quickest way to keep clothes sorted.

Check it out on Amazon by clicking HERE.

I received this product at a promotional discount in exchange for my HONEST and UNBIASED review.

Is Your Microfiber Couch Clean?

Do you think your couch is clean? oh, yeah? Well, good for you! I knew mine had spots, after all, my kids eat on the couch ALL THE TIME!! So, of course it's got some spots, right?

OKAY, lets get real. By "get real" I mean DISGUSTING!

Here is my before and after of my couch...now, I am not a neat freak, but my God, this is just, EWW, right? DON'T answer that! Please don't judge me...you already are, aren't you?

Okay, well while we are on this slippery slope, lets get even grosser...Brace yourself, you have been warned..

THIS is the WHITE towel AFTER one..ONE cushion! OMG!!! Let me please beg of you to NOT pass judgement until you give YOUR couch a wipe.

I clean my couch, OFTEN with a spot cleaner, carpet cleaner machine. I truly did NOT expect this.

I am ashamed and mortified. I ask you again to not judge....

Wanna try it yourself? Its SO easy!!

You'll Need:

  • Spray bottle
  • Peroxide
  • Dish soap
  • Warm water
  • WHITE towel - be brave and go for it!!
Now, spray the crap out of that nasty couch of yours!
Next, go do something else for 10 or 15 minutes.

Then, get that handy dandy WHITE towel and rub that couch like its a scratch ticket!

AND then...try not to gag when you see the towel.

Just look at your results and hear the choir of angels singing...

How I managed to fit DOUBLE the clothes in the Boy's Dressers!!

Spa and Wellness Gift Card
So with Spring comes Spring cleaning, right? RIGHT?

So, I embrace it and decide to TRY to organize the boys' dressers. Not an easy task. This means taking out the things that are too small, labeling and packing them away. Finding the new hand-me-downs and washing and folding them.

UGH frustration - time consuming! Once its time to actually put the clothes away, the wind has COMPLETELY left my sails! I forged on! I knew if I didn't complete this today, I would NOT revisit it tomorrow!

How We are SUCCESSFULLY Tackling Chores!!

Our boys are 8 and 5. We don't do the allowance thing. Instead we went to instill in them early that they are rewarded for doing what they should do already.

Let me try to clarify this concept a bit.  Instead of expecting to be rewarded with a new toy or money each week, they know we expect them to do well in school and help around the house and be kind, (basically be a good all around person).

Don't get me wrong, they get rewarded, sort of. We tell them they earn tablet time or video game time by doing chores. They earn picking the Friday night family movie or get to cook dinner (yes, my kids get AMPED over cooking!!

By the same token they can also lose those treasured treats.

Here is a picture of the incentive chart we have been using for a few months. Let me tell you, this sucker WORKS! They do not want to have their clip moved. If by chance that clip does move, its the first thing they check on the next day!!
